Comprehensive School Improvement Plan
School districts are required to have a Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) on file with the Iowa Department of Education. This plan identifies how the district intends to pursue improving learning and teaching over a five year period.
After an official site visit by a team from the Iowa Department of Education, the district is required to submit a revised five-year plan by September 15 of the school year following the comprehensive site visit specified in Iowa Code section 256.11 which incorporates, when appropriate, areas of improvement noted by the school improvement visitation team. 281--Iowa Administrative Code 12.8(2).
CSIP is now one of several plans incorporated into C-Plan or Consolidated Plan. C-Plan functions as a school or district-wide planning tool that guides the instructional focus (goal priorities) for school districts. The C-Plan is always a year behind the school calendar year.
