As we enter the colder months, I want to share some important updates regarding school operations during winter weather, Early Childhood Center construction progress, and district planning. Your ongoing support continues to shape the success of our students and schools.
With winter’s unpredictability, we urge families to ensure children are well-prepared with appropriate winter clothing such as coats, hats, gloves, and boots. When inclement weather arises, safety remains our top priority, and we strive to keep families informed promptly about any changes to school operations.
Timely Notifications: Closure or delay decisions are made by 5:30 a.m. whenever possible.
ParentSquare Updates: Please verify that your contact information is current in ParentSquare to receive real-time alerts.
Hard Surface Travel Plan: If gravel roads become unsafe for travel, the district will implement a "hard surface-only" bus plan, limiting routes to paved roads. Families impacted will be informed of alternate pick-up and drop-off locations. More information on the Hard Surface plan can be found on the district website.
Our new Early Childhood Center continues to take shape, despite recent weather-related delays. While we initially hoped to complete the parking lots and driveways by Thanksgiving, the current timeline places completion closer to the new year. This center represents a significant step forward in creating a dedicated, high-quality space for our youngest learners, and it is expected to open in August 2025.
Plans for the next phase of high school renovations continue to be vital to our commitment to modernizing educational spaces. This phase and plans reflect the same concepts that have been shared with our community over the past 10 years. The improvements will enhance learning environments, ensure better accessibility, and prioritize safety. We look forward to keeping the community updated as these plans progress and welcome your input during the process as we prepare to keep our schools a pillar of pride in our community.
This year, the district saw a decrease in enrollment of 55 students, impacting our budget with an estimated revenue loss of $432,308. We are proactively addressing these challenges by evaluating strategies to balance the budget and maintain quality education. One of the initiatives under review is the development of a local online learning program to support and retain students within the district.
